6:00pm #06 Newark White at #02 Somonauk #1

This game was originally scheduled for Monday May 4th, but was rescheduled for the 8th.

Final Score Somonauk 8, Newark White 1

Newark Pitchers Ethan Radiewicz 3 Innings Mikey Stafford 2 Innings

------------

Som. #1  8 runs   Newark –white  1 run

som. Pitichers  Saltzman 2 innings, jump 2 innings, zaleski 1 inning, novey 1 inning

Newark pitchers  radkiewicz 3 innings,  Stafford 2 innings

Somonauk pitchers had an outstanding evening with no earned runs allowed led by

Saltzman and jump with 2 no run innings each. Newark’s radkiewicz pitched outstanding

as well with only 2 earned runs over 3 innings. The game was close at som. 3 and

Newark 1 going into the bottom of the 5th and that’s when the Somonauk bats came out

of hibernation and had a 5 run inning.  There was a great defensive play by wiesbrook

which was a nice snag of a grounder to the 2nd base side of first base in which he

tagged the runner that was on first and then alertly stepped on first for an unassisted

double play. This was only somonauk’s wiesbrook 2nd organized baseball game.

I have been telling the boys that if we hit the ball things will happen and they did. Defensively everyone contributed the the win. Several guys Tj, Coby, Zeke caught fly-balls and Trent had the best in field leaping catch of the day. Good job to those boys. I also want to mention the the double play by Don 3b and Alex 1b. There was a boy on 2b and the ball was hit to Don who fielded it and threw the batter out. Then as the runner on 2b was headed to 3b Alex threw him out. Excellent work boys. Trevor did a good job on the mound and Cole Thopen Pitched 2 great innings. Keep up the work you two. Good job to HBR #2. You boys can really hit the ball.

My thanks to Somonauk Coach Jump who did an excellent job of managing the game -- I'm sure he knows what I mean. Somonauk pitcher Saltzman did an excellent job, pitching a scoreless 3 innings. Newark Blue battled back hard, scoring 6 runs in the 4th to cut the lead to 1. In the end, we fell short to a good Somonauk team who showed a lot of sportsmanship. My hats off to them and their coaching staff. Nice job guys.

This was a nail biter down to the very end. Great pitching by Ramirez but the defense was a little off today. Somonauk played a great game. They never gave up and took it to us in the end. Looking forward to game #3 again Somonauk.

Newark pitchers 2 innings each Stafford, kaufman, goetzinger som. Pitchers jump 4 innings zaleski 2 innings firstly I would like to commend the Newark kids as they were very gracious in defeat which is either a product of coaching and/or parenting but they are fine young gentleman. This was a very close game and may have had a different result had somonauks’ novey and zaleski not made great defensive plays on hard hit line drives by Newark. This game was the cleanest (error free) game that I have seen this year. Newark never gave up and will win their share of games before the season is over. Somonauk #1 som.9 newark – white 3

Sheridan Beats Serena 10 to 9
Pitching for Sheridan Cole Thorpen 3 Zeke Jabobs 2 Trevor Wehner 1
Pitching for Serena Nicholas Leannah 2 Christian Smith 1 Justin Shroba 2

Sheridan Highlights
: This game went back and fourth each inning. The pitching and hitting by both teams was outstanding. Cole, Don, Trent, Russell and Thomas each made great infield plays to get some key outs for us today. Way to go boys keep up the great defense. Both teams had the bats swinging and Sheridan lead 9 to 5 going into the 5th inning. That's when Serena came back to tie it up 9 to 9. Sheridan held Serena in the top of the 6 inning with the score still tied 9 to 9. On our last at bat's the first batter Trevor hit a nice triple and scored when they tried to trough him out on the way to third and overthrew the third basemen. Excellent job to all of you boys.

Pitching for Sheridan Cole Thorpen 1 1/3, Trevor Wehner 2 2/3, Zeke Jacobs 1 and Trent Stephens 1
Pitching for Newark White #21 2, #22 2/3 and #4 3 1/3

Sheridan highlights: This was a great game to be a part of tonight. Both teams played great defense and put the ball in play. I could not ask for any thing better from my boys. When you play 4 games in 5 days you have to go deep into your pitching with kids that don't see much pitching time. These boys had some great inning for us. This is the first time I had to use 4 pitchers in a game. Defensively Cole had 2 strike outs and a put out. Trevor struck out 6 with 1 put out. Zeke had 3 Strikeouts and a put out. Trent faced three batters and our defense took care of them. Offensively we put the ball in play and Newark made the plays. As for our hitting the best hit was by Trent who drove in two runs on a home run. Trent has been on fire at the plate this last week. Zeke had a single. Zeke, Trevor and Thomas all had doubles. Tj Smacked the ball twice for singles. Don did a great job behind the plate again with two put outs to his credit. Lets go get em in the tournament boys.

I was proud of the way our whole team hit the ball -- in fact both teams hit the ball well. Sheridan is a good team and Tom does a great job of coaching them. It was 17-14 going into the last inning and we were fortunate enough to get 12 in the top of the inning. It was a long game but it was fun to be a part of it.

Pitching for Newark blue W, Clausel innings 1and 2, I did not record the pitcher for the third inning and Pagel innings 4,5 and 6
Sheridan Highlights: Up in till the 4th inning the game was back and fourth with the score at 11 to 10 in favor of Sheridan. We struggled pitching for the whole game and couldn't get the bats going after the 4th. Cole and Trevor made several infield out for us and several strikeouts each. Zeke, Cole, TJ and Thomas each had 2 hits apiece. and one of Thomas's was for his first triple. This was a hard loss for us but you boys stuck it out. Keep up the good work..

6:00pm #02 Somonauk #1 at #08 Lisbon

Somonauk 7 lisbon 3 somonauk pitchers  Saltzman 4 innings zaleski 2 innings Lisbon lutze 3 innings Nichols 2 innings  we had another nail bitter with Lisbon. This was a good ball game for both teams.  The difference in the game was walks. Lisbon hitters hit the ball hard in the top of the 6 th but right at Somonauk players and they did their job. Lisbon never quit and my boys played as a team once again. Good luck to Lisbon and to us as well in the playoffs.

Pitching for Plano #1: Alonzo Herrera 5

Sheridan highlights:
What a great game for us tonight against Plano!! We were in the game up into the bottom of the fifth with the score 9 to 14 in Plano's favor. Trent did a great job on the mound even though he only had 4 strike outs. He did have 4 putouts. Plano put the ball in play and the our defense backed him up. For his first time pitching in A-ball Thomas did a good job in his first inning holding Plano to only 3 runs. Don did a tremendous job behind the plate and even caught a pop fly. Everyone made a great defensive play tonight. Tj had a fly out and went 2 for 3 at the plate. Thomas had 3 putouts One to Jarrid and the other to Coby. Zeke had 1 putout and went 3 for 3 at the plate with a single, double and a triple. Way to go Zeke!! not to be out done Trent who also went 3 for 3 with a single, double and a triple. Way to go Trent!! Jarrid put the ball in play going 2 for 3 with two singles. Way to put the bat on the the ball Jarrid!! Cole got a base hit and had made a nice tag play. Trevor was a great help to Trent and Thomas keeping them focused on the mound. I'm proud of you boys! Plano is a very good team and you played a heck of a good game. You kept them on there toes.
