After coaching in this league for over ten years, I have had some very competitive teams and not so competitive teams, and every where in between. I have never experienced an overall lack of sportsmanship before as I have seen this year. This year I have a very young team and fully expected to struggle, however,  I didn't anticipate to be kicked when I was down . There is no reason to demoralize a bunch of nine year olds in an effort to get a win. If you are winning by over 10 runs and the losing team shows no sign of mounting a come back, there is no reason to continue to steal and take extra bases at every opportunity. Furthermore, if a person is going to coach a base on the field he or she should have some clue as to what the rules of this league are, and Never laugh at the mistake of the kids. Finally, it should be completely unacceptable for any parent or coach to stand behind the backstop and question an umpires efforts. Umpiring is a difficult job only made worse when faced with such ignorance by the adults. I have three children to have learned these valueable lessons, these are just children trying to have fun and do the best they can. Pat Mulligan, Newark
